Hello Friends and Family,
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 4 years old. In fact, November 7, 2015, the day of the JDRF One Hope Ball, is the 12th anniversary of my diagnosis.
Despite the fact that I use an insulin pump that continuously infuses insulin into me through a catheter, as well as a continuous glucose monitor that uses a second catheter to measure my blood sugar levels every 5 minutes, Type 1 Diabetes is still an incredibly difficult disease to manage. As I look toward leaving for college in less than two years, I hope more than ever that there will be a cure for this disease.
The technology has improved tremendously since my diagnosis 12 years ago. This has been made possible by JDRF and donations from people like you. A quick glance at an app on my cell phone now tells me that my blood sugar is safe for me to drive a car or get into a boat to row crew with my team. A few years ago, I had to test my blood at least 10 times each day in order to assess my glucose control. The technology will continue to improve, and important research is ongoing in order to effectuate an actual physiological cure. That will be the happiest day for me and my family.
Please help me raise money for JDRF to turn Type One into Type None by making a donation on this page.
Thank you for your support!
